For sale is an original WWII British Army Steel Dispatch Rider’s (DR) Helmet. This late-war example features its authentic factory-applied, rough-textured green paint and comes complete with a completely intact interior liner.
The exterior retains its correct, factory-original olive-green finish mixed with standard sawdust/cork texturing to eliminate combat glare. The steel shell is in excellent condition with no post-war overpaint, decals, or modifications. The interior leather lining is remarkably well-preserved and has the integral leather ear protection flaps and the original chinstrap.
Has the manufacturer stamp, which can be seen in the photos as a faint "BMB" stamped on the inside, denoting the wartime manufacturer Briggs Motor Bodies Ltd with a partially legible 1944 wartime production date stamped into the leather headband.
This item is in good condition, but the metal shell shows minor, honest age-related handling wear but no major dents or corrosion. The leather is remarkably supple with solid stitching throughout and no signs of dry rot, does have some age-related wear. A nice example perfect for a WWII combat.
